Southeast gateway line

Introducing the Southeast Gateway Line Project (Formerly the West Santa Ana Branch)

The Southeast Gateway Line Corridor (SGL) project is more than just another rail line – it's a transformative 14.5-mile light rail transit (LRT) connection set to revolutionize the travel experience in southeast LA County. Boasting nine state-of-the-art stations, the new rail will link cities from Artesia to Downtown Los Angeles, passing through Cerritos, Bellflower, Paramount, Downey, South Gate, Cudahy, Bell, Huntington Park, Vernon, and the unincorporated Florence-Firestone area.

Construction work officially began on August 4 in the City of Artesia as Southern California Gas Company will be relocating existing gas lines to accommodate the future light rail project. 

Locations, Dates and Work Hours (weather permitting, excluding holidays)

•Along 186th St, between Jersey Ave. & Alburtis Ave.

Starting the week of August 4, Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm

•Along 187th St, between Alburtis Ave. & Corby Ave.

Starting the week of August 11, Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm

What to Expect

•186th St and 187th St will remain open with intermittent single-lane closures with flagging operations or a temporary lane shift.

•Short-term traffic impacts.

•Equipment in the street, excavations, and repaving of roadway and sidewalk repair.
