The State Water Resources Control Board requires public agencies that own or operate sanitary sewer systems to develop and implement sewer system management plans. The goal of the Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP) is to provide a plan and schedule to properly manage, operate, and maintain all parts of the collection system. The City of Artesia has an agreement with the Los Angeles County Public Works Department to maintain and operate the City's sewer pipes.
