At its June meeting, the City Council recognized three high school seniors who were awarded a $1,000 academic scholarship to the college or university of their choice. Artesia residents Erin Jimenez, Mason A. Hernandez, and Melinda M. Garcia each carried an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, and plan to attend a higher education institution this fall. The scholarship, awarded in partnership with Artesia-based Cerritos Presbyterian Church, will assist each student in their pursuit of higher education.
The scholarship opportunity was open to all high school seniors and college students who are residents of the City of Artesia and will be enrolled in college, university, or trade school in the fall of 2018. The City would like to acknowledge all high school seniors that applied, and encourage all students to pursue higher education and find their passion.
