Recently the City of Artesia held a successful Public Safety Expo in conjunction with Lunar New Year Festival on March 4, 2017. Lakewood Sheriff and LA County Fire collaborated with City staff to give the families of Artesia an opportunity to enjoy an interactive day with multiple public agencies that provide services to Artesia residents, businesses and visitors. During the welcome ceremony, the City honored and recognized the Deputy of the Year, Deputy Robert Valenzuela and the Firefighter of the Year, Michael Dussinger.
In addition to the many exciting exhibits listed below, Artesia residents had the opportunity to meet and interact with representatives from LA county Animal Control, LA County Health Department, LA County Fire Department, LA County Sheriff’s Department, CARE Ambulance Services, and American Red Cross Long Beach Chapter.
Displays and exhibits included:
- Live fire suppression and car-cutting demonstrations
- K-9 unit drug sniffing dog and canine officers
- Several vehicle and equipment displays including the those from the SWAT Team (Special Weapons and Tactics), fire trucks and a ladder truck, multiple police and other fire units and equipment, and Animal Control units
- Several information booths on hand providing information about a wide range of public safety related topics
