PRESS RELEASE

The City of Artesia has achieved Tree City USA recognition for the third consecutive year, demonstrating the City’s dedication to upholding its urban forest for the benefit of the community.

The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters, to support communities in cultivating and maintaining urban forests. The Chief Executive of the Arbor Day Foundation highlighted the benefits of such initiatives, noting that Artesia's efforts ensure a better quality of life for future generations. Engagement in the program fosters community cohesion and civic pride through volunteerism and public education.

“Being recognized as a Tree City USA for the third year in a row reflects our commitment to ensuring our community is inviting and livable while also showcasing the City’s dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship,” said Mayor Ali Taj. Communities worldwide are facing challenges like air quality, water resources, health and well-being, energy use, and climate impacts. The City is actively doing its part to tackle these challenges, ensuring a better life for residents now and in the future.

The City emphasizes the importance of a proactive approach to climate change by taking action to protect our environment. By being recognized as a Tree City, Artesia is not just planting trees, we are building and maintaining a healthier future for our community. The City of Artesia will remain dedicated to environmental sustainability and encourages all residents to join in this important initiative.
