The Artesia Historical Society to Honor the Artesia Bakery

The Artesia Historical Society will host a “Historical Celebration” on Saturday May 6, 2006 where they will honor The Artesia Bakery. The event will be held at The Artesia Historical Museum, 18644 Alburtis Ave., (corner of 187th and Alburtis), Artesia, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and will feature bakery memorabilia, light refreshments and other surprises. Don’t miss out!

The Lakeman family began operating The Artesia Bakery on December 5, 1952, and now includes members of the third generation of the family. As many know the business will be closing at its current location at the end of April, so don’t miss this opportunity to express your appreciation for their contribution to our community.

This is the second “Historical Celebration” The Artesia Historical Society has held. The first honored Hank’s Coffee Shop/Hank and Syl’s and was held in the Spring of 2005. Paying tribute to long-term business of Artesia is an on-going project of The Society.

Please contact either Veronica Bloomfield at (562) 865-1503 or Delores and Ron Eveland at (562) 860-3623 for information on how to obtain your ticket. Tickets are $10.00 each.
