Can the Competition!
Want to be featured on this web site? How about a story about you or your
group in Artesia's Newsletter?
Then step right up and help Artesia "Can the Competion" with from September 1st to September 16th by collecting and recycling aluminum cans. Artesia is competing against cities of similar size, to see which city can collect and recycle the most aluminum cans.
The competition is called the "City Recycling Challenge" and was created by The U.S. Conference of Mayors and Novelis Corporation, the new world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling.
The Challenge will award a total of $40,000 to participating municipalities for furthering recycling efforts. The City of Artesia is competing to win up to $10,000 to go toward its recycling program.
What should I do?
Collect and bring as many aluminum cans to the authorized drop-off locations listed below. Proceeds from the actual recycling process will go toward Artesia's Red Ribbon program - which is a program designed to help people commit to leading drug free lives and is heavily promoted through schools (and Artesia) in October every year.
The group or individual to collect and recycle the most cans at participating locations, will be featured in the city website and featured in the city newsletter, so keep a receipt.
Here's your chance to help your city in two ways: Win money for a better recycling program and help our citizens commit to drug free lives.
The competition begins September 1st and ends September 16, 2005.
