New flagpole for Artesia Cemetary
The Artesia Cemetary (in Cerritos) has a brand new flagpole and monument.
The cities of Artesia, Cerritos, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, and Norwalk all came together to purchase the flagpole. The monument at the base of the pole was purchased through other means.
The monument consists of six plaques, five for each branch of the military and the sixth dedicating the monument.
"Artesia was the major player in this project," said Chuck Burkhardt, from the city's Public Works Department.
According to Burkhardt, the flagpole is made from spun aluminum and is 30 feet.
"The prior flagpole was old and obsolete ... a new flagpole and monument was necessary, said Burkhardt.
