Help Make "Everyone Count" by Volunteering for the 2007 Homeless Count
January 25, 2007
Every two years, the City of Long Beach Continuum of Care is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to conduct a street and service based homeless count.
The City will be divided into 47 map segments to be canvassed by teams of three people represented by a 1) community volunteer, 2) service provider and 3) homeless or formerly homeless person. Street outreach teams will cover citywide locations where homeless are known to reside to ensure best efforts to count people experiencing homelessness.
The event will be held January 25, 2007 beginning at 5 AM with plans to complete by 5 PM. Everyone will meet at the Multi-Service Center (MSC), 1301 W. 12th. St., Long Beach, CA 90813.
There are 3 days of training sessions scheduled for volunteers and will be hosted at the MSC:
- Tuesday, January 16th at 1 PM and 6 PM
- Wednesday, January 17th at 6 PM
- Thursday, January 18th at 1 PM and 6 PM
