Solid Waste & Recycling Services
Since November 2015 CR&R Environmental Services has been the single franchised waste hauler for the City of Artesia, and has been responsible for providing recycling, refuse, and green waste services for residents, as well as refuse and recycling services to commercial and industrial customers.

Los Angeles Regional Agency (LARA)
The Los Angeles Regional Agency (LARA) is a consortium of 18 cities (including Artesia) in LA County with the mission to promote environmental responsibility through the reduce, reuse and recycle philosophy.

Mandatory Commercial Recycling (MCR)
AB 341 requires all jurisdictions to meet the diversion goal of 75% by the year 2020.

  • Who is affected by AB 341?
Businesses that generate 4 or more cubic yards of waste per week and multi-family dwellings with 5 or more units.
  • What can businesses do to be compliant with regulations?
o Participate in a recycling programs with CR&R
o Donate, sell, and or self-haul materials to a recycling facility
o Arrange for the pickup of recyclable materials.
o Subscribe to a recycling service that may include mixed waste processing that yields diversion results comparable to source separation.

Mandatory Commercial Organics Recycling (MORe)

AB 1826 requires businesses to separate their food scraps and green waste for recycling.

  • Who is affected by AB 1826?
As of January 1, 2017, businesses that generate 4 or more cubic yards or organic waste per week. Beginning January 1, 2019, businesses that generate 4 or more yards of solid waste per week.
  • What can these entities do to be compliant with regulations?
Commercial businesses can subscribe to organic waste recycling service through CR&R.
