Meet Artesia's City Council

Michele L. Diaz

City Councilmember

Michele Diaz has been selected to serve the remainder of Councilmember Larry Nelson’s term.  Even though the circumstances of her serving are sad, she is eager to continue Larry’s dedication and commitment to the City of Artesia.

Michele has lived in Artesia for 27 years being one of the few people who moved from Chino to Artesia instead of the other way around.

In the early ‘90s she was employed by the City of Artesia as a planning aide before moving to the City of Anaheim where she was a supervisor in the Building Department.  After ten years in Anaheim she was hired by the City of Huntington Beach were she currently is a supervisor in the Building Department.

Michele has served the community as a Commissioner or Chairperson of the Planning Commission for 11 years and she has served as President of the Friends of Artesia Library for 5 years.  Over the year she has volunteered at many events within Artesia such as the Relay for Life, neighborhood clean ups, vine and tree plantings, hazardous waste roundups, and painting the old Fire House.

Michele hopes to use the experience gained by working in various cities to benefit Artesia.  She will work with her fellow council members, the employees of the city, and the residents of Artesia to help steer the city through the current financial turmoil.  She believes that residents and business will prevail if we are united in our cause.  It is important to keep the city’s positive momentum of the past few years going.
