Have a 'Spooktacular' Halloween

Artesia and A.J. Padelford Parks will be providing food, candy, and entertainment during Halloween night

On Halloween, take your child to visit Artesia or A.J. Padelford Parks to enjoy entertainment, food, and plenty of candy during the Spooktacular Halloween Festival, Oct. 31, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Artesia residents have been attending community programs more and more, and with the decline in door-to-door ‘trick-or-treating’, the Parks and Recreation Department is trying to bring trick-or-treating back to Halloween in a fun and safe way.  Booths are set up for groups that participate in the event and children will be given the opportunity at each station.

The events will include music, mini-carnival games, costume contests, carved pumpkin contests, free food for the 450 guests at Artesia Park, and the first 350 guests at A.J. Padelford.

Children and adults interested in participating in the costume contest will compete in five divisions based on age: 0-2; 3-6; 7-10; 11-15; and 16 and up.  The winner from each age division will receive a Spooktacular medal and a medal prize.  The pre-cut jack-o-lantern contest will have an adult and youth winner, each will receive medal and a prize for their efforts.

The Artesia/Cerritos Lions Club will be donating 300 small toys to be given out in the goodie bags.
