City Council selects Lyon at reorganization special meeting and installs Lima and Canales

Artesia’s City Council selected a new mayor at the December 12 scheduled meeting. New Mayor John P. Lyon will serve as Mayor for the fourth time since first being elected in 1994. Mayor Lyon was re-elected to the City Council in 2009 after a 4-year separation, Mayor Lyon will lead the City Council in policy making for the city and serve as the city’s representative for federal, state and local affairs. Sally Zuniga Flowers will serve as Mayor Pro Tem.

City Council member Tony Lima was sworn in for a second 4 year term and incoming Councilmember Miguel Canales will replace outgoing councilmember Michele Diaz.
