Mosquito traps can be mistaken for bombs, suspicious objects
The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District would like to remind Artesia residents that their routine mosquito trapping season resumes in early spring and continues through October.
In some selected areas, trapping will be conducted year-round. District staff will be placing two types of battery-operated mosquito traps at locations within district boundaries.
Please be advised that some residents are unfamiliar with these mosquito traps and may call in "suspicious objects" to local law enforcement.
There have been past incidences which have triggered responses from the L.A. Police Department and the L.A. County Sheriffs Department's Bomb Squad.
This has inconvenienced local law enforcement, business owners, and residents alike.
