Long time Artesia resident Mike Ochoa passes away at 53

Miguel “Mike” Ochoa was a long time resident of Artesia, who lived, went to school, and finally died in Artesia on Monday, December 1, at the age of 53.

Mike was born in Compton in 1955, but he was raised in Artesia.  He attended Faye Ross Middle School, Gahr High School, and Kennedy High School, and attended church services at Holy Family Church.

His biggest passions were baseball, golf, and fishing.  “Mike played in the local farm team, and went all the way up to the pony league,” said his mother P. Ochoa.

Mike worked for Asplundh Tree Expert, where he was the acting foreman in charge of clearing tree branches and foliage from electrical and telephone lines.

“He was very hard working, a good father, and he loved to help people,” said his mother.  “Sometimes he would help trim his neighbor’s trees.

Mike is survived by his wife Dana, son Miguel Jr.; daughters Melissa and Mena; stepsons Christopher and Adam Rodriguez; daughter-in-laws Brittany, Gabby, and Janet; his brother Rudy; and his mother, who did not wish to disclose her name.
