Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base assists with Artesia's Veterans Day Event

Artesia’s Veterans Day Event on Saturday, November 10, is shaping up to be a memorable one, thanks largely to help from the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB).

Numerous other organizations, aside from the City, are involved with the planning of this event.

The JFTB is home to soldiers, sailors, and airmen from all branches, as they seek to hone their skills.  JFTB’s influence on Artesia’s Veterans Day Event will be very visible, and will include many military vehicles and displays.

Per Artesia’s Veterans Day tradition, the Office of Congresswoman Linda Sanchez will play an integral part to the ceremony, and Sanchez or her office will present medals to veterans who for some reason did not receive the medals they earned during active duty.

On the City’s end, the Veterans Day committee is hard at work creating a layout and planning for the day’s schedule.  Already, one band has signed on to play after the ceremony and the Artesia DES Hall marching band is preparing an unforgettable performance.

Artesia’s Veterans Day theme for 2007 is, “Freedom is not Free.”  Veterans Day is always a very important holiday to

Artesians, as it is one of the principal ways to recognize those who served with pride and dedication to ensure America’s basic ideals of freedom by serving in the Armed Forces.  The event usually draws over 500 people, but Artesia is working to get a much larger turnout this year, and with good reason.
