Grant funding initiates Xeriscape Garden project
Approximately $1500 in funding has given the City the opportunity to begin a much anticipated Xeriscape Garden.
The grant funding came from the Water Replenishment District and Central Basin Municipal Water District.
Xeriscape gardens refer to landscaping or gardening in ways that reduce or eliminate the need for supplemental water from irrigation. It's promoted in regions that do not have easily reliable water supplies. Southern California is such a region.
The plan is to include many native California plants, and will feature drip irrigation. Drip irrigation is a type of irrigation that substantially reduces the amount of water used for the garden. The garden will be located at Artesia Park.
The purpose of the garden is to chowcase ways that Artesians (or any Southern Californian) can create a beautiful, yet water-efficient landscape.
