Artesia brings technology into the fight against graffiti
The City of Artesia is putting their foot down when it comes to graffiti.
Recently, Artesia has contracted with Graffiti Tracker to help law enforcement apprehend taggers. Graffiti Tracker is an innovative system that will help deputies track, identify and arrest people responsible for these mischievous crimes.
Mayor Sally Flowers states, "This is a quality of life issue. Residents and Merchants work hard to improve their lives. They spend a lot of money on their buildings and walls. We hope to utilize this new tool to reduce graffiti in Artesia and hold persons accountable for their actions."
"We are excited to work with Graffiti Tracker and we hope to significantly reduce graffiti in our community. We plan to go after taggers aggressively,” said Sergeant Greg Knapp from Artesia’s Special Assignment Team. “Not only will they have to face court and jail time, they will be ordered to pay restitution to the victims who paid out-of-pocket to repair their property."
If you have information relating to any crime, please contact Lakewood Sheriff's Station at 562-623-3500. For graffiti removal, call the graffiti hotline at (888) 504-4057.
