City finalizes General Plan Update

Earlier this year, the City finalized its General Plan Update.

.

The City's General Plan is a document that lists the goals the City wishes to make, and sets timelines for each of the goals.

.

The last General Plan was amde in 1995, and cities are requested to update them every 10 years.

The plan discusses in detail the strategy for the City to increase business, to streamline transportation, to become more sustainable (aka "green"), to update its technology, to beautify the city or make it more aesthetically pleasing, and increase services to residents and businesses.

.

It also discusses how the City will do its part in stemming the effects of global warming, how to preserve its history, and how it will help promote social equity.

.

The Artesia General Plan is not a fixed experession of general goals and policies; rather, it is a document which is practical in nature, progressive in strategy, and specifically designed to guide development and address the aforementioned issues of the ever changing environment in which Artesia is located.
