Be wary of curb painting scams

Artesians have recently been targeted by scam artists who call themselves "Curb Addressing Service."

The City has not authorized this organization or any others to paint any curbs in the City.

The last authorized curb painting project was in 2006. The next scheduled curb address painting will occur in 2010, and the City will be seeking organizations that would be willing to do this service for donations.

When the City chooses the organization it wishes to have paint its curbs, notifications will be sent out to residents, along with the dates that the curb painting project is scheduled to occur.

Until that time, if someone does approach your home and asks for a donation for painting your curb, or if you witness curb addresses being painted anywhere in teh city, please either call City Hall at (562) 865-6262 or the Lakewood Sheriffs at (562) 623-3500.
