Artesia's Public Safety Expo and Youth Safety Day is just around the corner. It's on February 20, from 10 am - 2 pm.
Get an up-close look at search and rescue trucks, SWAT vehicles, helicopters and other tools used by the personnel of the LA County Sheriff's and Fire Department.
Exciting public safety demonstrations will include K-9 officers, a bomb disposal robot, putting out fires, and the Jaws of Life, which uses hydraulic power to pry open metal so that firefighters can get into a vehicle and safety power to pry open metal so that firefighters can get into a vehicle and safely remove passengers who may be trapped inside or too injured to escape. The Expo will also have exhibits from many different organizations, like the Red Cross.
Youth Safety Day will feature thrilling freestyle BMX bike demonstrations by Team Soil meant to illustrate the importance of wearing safety gear.
Youth are eligible to enter a raffle to win bicycles, safety gear, and other awesome prizes by completing a bicycle safety course,visiting educational displays, watching demonstrations, and receiving a stamp in their Safety Passport at each stop along the way.
In conjunction with World Spay Day, LA County Animal Control is hosting a pet adoption event and a low-cost pet vaccination clinic.
