The City of Artesia is in search of contestants to compete in the 2010 Miss Artesia & Miss Artesia Teen Pageant.  The event will be held on June 5th at the Albert O. Little Community Center where the 2009 Artesia Royal Court will crown a new set of girls who will represent the city for one year.  These young ladies will also be invited to charity events, grand openings, parades, neighboring pageants and many other such events throughout their reign.

The pageant is made available to all interested young ladies who live/work/attend school in the City of Artesia or must attend school in the ABC Unified School District, Valley Christian School, St Joseph High, or Cerritos College.  Ages 13-16 will compete for the title of Miss Artesia Teen and ages 17-25 will compete for the title of Miss Artesia.

Contestants will attend weekly practices where they will expand on their speaking, interviewing, and networking skills. The pageant focuses primarily on the contestant’s ability to communicate in a group, on stage, and in one-on-one interviews. These skills are essential components to individual growth and preparation needed to for these young ladies to further themselves in today’s competitive job market. Scoring for the pageant is based on a personal interview, onstage introduction/speech, evening gown and onstage question.

The Miss Artesia & Miss Artesia Teen Pageant works to provide a positive experience for each contestant and encourages them to project self confidence in every aspect of their lives.  Prior to the pageant day, special events are held in celebration of the achievements that are made by each of the contestants.

The Miss Artesia Pageant Committee will be accepting applications!  The entry deadline is April 10th and applications are available at Artesia Park and Artesia City Hall.  A contestant orientation will take place on Saturday, April 10th at 1 p.m. at Woodlands Indian Cuisine (11833 Artesia Blvd, Artesia) where further details will be discussed.

If you or someone you know may be interested in becoming a contestant or if you have any other questions, please contact the directors Erin Miranda (562) 397-6430 or Linda Gonzalez (562) 857-3384.
