A Veterans Day everyone will remember

Join the City of Artesia in honoring veterans on November 6.  For 11 years, Artesia's been celebrating Veterans Day with an organized event, with each year filled with new surprises.

This year, the City seeks to also recognize the passing of Councilmember Larry R. Nelson, a Navy veteran, who saw to it 11 years ago that veterans get recognized on Veterans Day.  Nelson passed away earlier this year on May 1.

In 2008, the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base (LAJFTB) partnered with Artesia and has since been giving guests quite a show, landing Blackhawk helicopters in Artesia Park.  Last year, the LAJFTB was especially generous by landing two helicopters!  This year, the Veterans Day Committee is seeking LAJFTB's continued support in making Artesia's Veterans Day a special day indeed.

This year's ceremony will be much more streamlined then previous events, but with the same sentimental testament to the veterans of our Armed Forces.  All veterans and their families are invited.

Artesia is also trying to recognize as many veterans as it possibly can, and so any vets who have not been recognized at a previous event, please contact the City as soon as possible.

The event starts at 10 a.m., and the cderemony at 11 a.m., at Artesia Park, 18750 Clarkdale Avenue.

Call Andrew at (562) 865-6262 to be recognized by the City for your services.  All veterans can apply, residence is not an issue.
