Be a part of Artesia's 50th Anniversary celebration
Artesia was incorporated on May 29, 1959 and 2009 will mark its 50th anniversary. The City is seeking volunteers to help plan out the events celebrating this landmark year.
The City has laid out some of the framework for the 50th anniversary. However, sub-committees will need to be created for each of these events, as well as other important features such as public safety, public works, and traffic control. Citizens interested in planning Artesia’s 50th anniversary events should submit an application and a letter stating both their interest in participating, as well as their skills they can bring, by July 18, 2008.
In particular, those citizens who feel they are knowledgeable in the following areas should apply as soon as possible:
- 5K Runs
- 50th Anniversary Formal Dinner
- Communitywide birthday celebration
- Pioneer Day Parade
- Carnival
The City is also interested in recruiting committee members who are a part of a civic organization or service group.
Please contact Melissa Gobas at (562) 860-3361 for more information. Applications can be picked up at City Hall or downloaded from the city website or below.
