Citizens Lead Easter Procession,
Munch on Tacos at A.J. Park

Mayor Sally Flowers entertains children during A.J. Park’s Easter Program.
Despite a light drizzle, Artesia residents enjoyed themselves as they celebrated Easter with a procession, a mini-carnival, an Easter egg hunt, and taco munching on Saturday, March 20.
A.J. Padelford Park’s Parent Group started their annual Way of the Cross/Via Crusis procession beginning at A.J. Padelford Park, traveling throughout the surrounding community, and returning to the park. The processioners enjoyed themselves as residents played character roles in the “Way of the Cross” procession.

The Parent Group raised funds for park activities by feeding the hungry processioners with tacos and more. After the procession, Artesia city representatives and its Recreation Dept. at A.J. Park held an Easter program from noon to 4 p.m. for families to enjoy.
The program launched with a mini-carnival for children 14 years old and younger. Events included family games, an Easter egg hunt, an Easter bunny magic show, and prizes. Refreshments and free hot dogs were provided by “People to People’ of Artesia.
