Westar Celebrates Grand Opening

AJ Dudheker joyously hosted the grand opening of the Westar Funding building with ceremony, cocktails, and dinner for invited guests July 28th, 2005.

Artesia Council Members Tony Mendoza and John Martins were present at the function, and Mendoza presented certificates of recognition to Westar and the building’s architect, Arun “Ron” Phadnis, who is well known for his unique style.

Westar Funding Corp. aids in funding real estate, commercial or residential, and has over 5,000 clients in California, Nevada, and Arizona.

The Westar building stands at the site where there were four homes, one of which was donated to the Artesia Historical Society and moved to 18644 Alburtis Avenue. The donated home will be the Artesia Historical Museum (grand opening for the museum is September 24 at 1 p.m.). “I donated the house to the Historical Society … I am glad to be helpful (to the city).”

Dudheker acknowledged the Indian community during the ceremony. “We specialize in the Indian community … 90 percent of our clients are Indians,” said Dudheker.

Dudheker’s “right hand man”, TJ Barang, spoke of the time Dudheker “dreamed” up the idea of the building. They were driving on Pioneer, and Dudheker said, “Right there I see another great building.” Barong said there was nothing there but a few houses, but Dudheker insisted that would be the sight of a “great building”. July 28 was the realization of that vision.

Dudheker also thanked the City of Artesia. “I don’t care what you heard … if you do what they say and follow their advice, they’ll help you.”
