City of Artesia's Patriot Day Ceremony

On Tuesday, September 11, 2007, join the City of Artesia in a memorial observance of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against our country.

We will be paying a very special tribute to those who lost their lives and honoring all surviving family members, firemen, policemen, volunteer helpers, and thousands more who were so tragically impacted by these terrorist acts.

A Patriot Day Ceremony is scheduled at 12 noon, at the Memorial Garden in Artesia Park, l8750 Clarkdale Avenue, Artesia, California. Invited guests include elected officials, commissioners, and Los Angeles County Fire and Police officials.

The City of Artesia welcomes all community members to join us in this memorial event, a day of unity and patriotism for these great United States of America.

For additional information contact Andrew Perry at Artesia City Hall, at (562) 865-6262.

Poem by Artesia Resident Dody Bedingfield:

We’ll Never Forget 9/11

What can I do, what can I say,
About that day, they took many lives away.

Tho time has passed, the pain is still there.
We’ll never forget those lost, we’ll always care.

These are perilous times, throughout the land,
For God and country, we still must take our stand.

The enemy comes to scare, and to kill all they can,
But we need to unite, and together must band.

Many lives are given, for freedom each day.
This is the greatest sacrifice, they can pay.

What will you do? What will you give?
For America, our great land, so freedom can live.

We must be vigilant, aware of what we see,
Times have changed, it’s not the same as it used to be.

Do we pray, do we really care?
Loving our neighbors, willing to share.

America’s the greatest land of all,
Our blessings are many, but on God we must call.

To sustain our faith, it’s our foundation,
The very core of the building of our nation.

Regardless of what comes, or what we do,
On 9/11 we remember you.
