Blurring the Years at Artesia Park

Women with swirly skirts dancing, men with cigarette boxes tucked into the sleeve of their shirts, and jeans cuffed high above their creepers; 2005 became 1955 for a few hours at Artesia Park’s Community Center.

Seniors enjoyed ice cream served by park staff, a cool refreshment contrasting the summer heat outside during their ‘50’s Party from 10 a.m. to early afternoon. Food, beverages, and snacks were also served.

Dorothy Hoekstra, senior coordinator at Artesia Park, announced her retirement to all attending.

The ‘50’s DJ was Jerry Benton.
