Blood Drive for City of Cerritos Senior Services Supervisor


An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on September 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, and also from 1 to 7 p.m. outside of the Cerritos Library.

The drive is being held in part for Senior Services Supervisor Chelsea Otero, an employee of the City of Cerritos. Otero is currently battling a rare form of leukemia and is receiving blood every 12 hours and platelets every six hours.

Donors who are AB negative, which is Otero’s blood type and in very limited supply, will be able to make a direct donation to Chelsea upon request. The Red Cross will also be registering people who are interested in donating bone marrow during this drive. All those who donate blood will receive discount coupons to Chipotle.

A family assistance program for Chelsea Otero is currently being coordinated by Cerritos’ Community Participation Division.
