Sewer project could last one year

L.A. County Sanitation District will be installing a new sewer line in Artesia, to relieve the volume in existing sewer lines. Construction will commence near the end of August, and the project is expected to continue for about one year.

Traffic will be controlled, and the work will be done at night, but there will be one lane open during construction.  The new sewage line will feature 20-inch pipe, planted 12.5 feet to 20 feet below the surface, depending on location.

The new line will take sewage to a different treatment plant, so the water can be recycled.  Construction will begin at 188th Street and Pioneer Blvd., and the sewer line is expected to go from the location north to 183rd Street, then west to Gridley Road, and then north on gridley Road to Artesia Blvd.

The District has hired L.A. Engineering to do the construction.
