Knitting helmets for the troops
Everyone is invited to the Artesia Senior Center in making “ helmet hats “for our troops. The helmet hats are easy to crochet.
The “helmet hats” are made to fit under a helmet; in cold weather the hats keep the troops head warm and in hot weather they are soaked in water to keep them cool. This project can be done from your home, you would only need to bring in your completed helmet hats and we will take them to the proper place for distribution.
Everyone is welcome to stop by the center every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and join our loom-knitting workshop. We make hats for the newborn babies and hats for the cancer patients who are undergoing treatment. Our loom knitting group has made approximately 1000 hats.
Our troops would really appreciate your efforts; every stitch is a stitch from the heart with love for our young men and women who put their lives on the line each and every day to keep us a free nation. If you are interested in making the helmet hats please contact the Senior Center and ask for Betty Lou Ormonde at 860-3361.
