Artesia News

Are you, or someone you know, losing your home or have nowhere to live?

.

In celebrating the New Year with your friends and loved ones, I ask that you remember families who are at risk of losing or have lost their home and are in need of having a safe place to live during this cold holiday season.

On August 31, 2010, the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors approved a motion adding the City of Artesia as one of the 19 cities to receive funding through the Homelessness Prevention Rapid Re-housing program (HPRP). I have attached posters and the new brochure for your use and distribution.

What outcomes are hoped to be achieved through HPRP?

• Reducing the length of stay in shelters or in homelessness
• Reducing the number of people experiencing homelessness for the first time
• Increasing the number of people who are diverted from shelter to stable housing
• Reducing repeat episodes of homelessness
• Reducing the number of people overall who are homeless

You may be eligible for the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) if you are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to a financial hardship.

If you qualify, HPRP could help pay for:

•  Back rent

•  Rental assistance

•  Security deposit

•  Past due gas and electric bills

•  Fees to turn on your utilities

Some income and residency restrictions apply to qualify for this program.

Call HPRP to find out if you are eligible at (800) 973-3370 or visit L.A. County Housing Resource's website:  housing.lacounty.gov/HPRP
