City Council passes water ordinance
This ordinance establishes permanent water conservation standards intended to alter behavior related to water use efficiency for non-shortage water supply conditions. The new ordinance includes:
- A prohibition on watering lawns or landscapes more than once a day
- Watering lawns and landscapes is prohibited between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Watering lawns and landscapes using most springklers is limited to 10 minutes per day.
- Watering lawns or landscapes in a manner that causes excessive water flow or runoff is prohibited
- Washing hard or paved surfaces is prohibited, except when necessary for safety or sanitary hazards
- Excessive use, loss or escape of water through breaks, leaks, or other plumbing or distribution system malfunctions must be repaired within 48 hours after receiving notice from the city
- Operating a decorative water feature that does not use re-circulated water is prohibited.
- Washing vehicles must be done with a hand-held bucket or a hose equipped with a water shut-off nozzle or device.
