Construction of new Public Works Yard commences
Construction has begun on Artesia's first city-owned Public Works Yard.
The Yard will be headquarters for the Public Works Department. Pictured here are the cinder block walls being built.
The project should be completed by January 2012.
This is one of Artesia's longest anticipated capital projects. Since 1959, the City has not owned its own Public Works Yard. Instead, it has been renting property. Finally, after 50 years, the City has begun work to construct a Yard on Corby Avenue.
Funds for construction are paid for with redevelopment money.
