Budget deficit forces preschool program cancellation

City Council voted to cancel the Artesia Park preschool program, in order to create a fiscally responsible budget. The cancellation will take effect during the next session, which is scheduled for March.

The preschool program, which is funded by the City's general fund, did not recover enough of its cost to justify its continuation.

Artesia has been scaling back on programs and special events that are unable to recover a significant portion of its cost.
